If I don't have to be at home when you come to clean the yard, how will I know you have been here?

Hopefully you will know by the smell!  Seriously though, we will leave a calling card on your front door with any concerns noted.

Why would anyone hire someone to pick up dog poop?

That's a really good question that can best be answered by posing a few other questions.  Do you or anyone in your family pick up after your dog on a regular basis?  If so, do you fight about doing it or whose turn it is?  Is it a necessary part of dog ownership that you hate?  Does it take away from the enjoyment of having a dog?  If that doesn't convince you that it's a wise idea to pay someone willing to do it, consider this:  Why do you pay someone to mow your lawn, wash your car, send your laundry to the cleaners, or change the oil in your car's engine?  Certainly, many people can do all these things mentioned by themselves with a little time and effort, but instead pay to have them done for the same reasons you should pay someone to pick up your pet waste.  It will save you time and allow you to spend that time doing other things.  In the end, it's awfully convenient, and we think it's a great value for all the benefits you receive by assigning us that necessary task.

I am not really interested in a weekly service, can you just come by every now and then when I need you to?

Sure!  We will clean as often or as infrequently as you wish.  However, your dog is going to keep on piling up work for us even when we don't come by, so we really do recommend at least every other week service at the very minimum so that you keep the accumulation of waste in your yard down.  Remember, having the waste pile up in your yard is not just a nusiance but a health hazard and an environmental concern as well.

We are having a birthday party in our back yard for our son.  Will you clean for a special occasion like that?

Yes, we will come by to clean up for your special occasion.  You can see the pricing for a One Time Service on our Rates page.  We have this plan available for those who are having a planned outdoor activity, like a party, BBQ, holiday, etc.

Is your house up for sale?  Check out our service plans to keep your yard clean while prospective buyers are making purchase decisions.

Again, you get the most value from our service by scheduling service more regularly, but we will come out to clean for a special occasion.  (Please note that payment is due at the time of service for a One Time Cleaning.)

What about when it rains?  Can I still get service?

We are willing to work in the rain to prevent service interruptions, but if there is a lot of lightning, then that is a deal-breaker, for obvious reasons.  We won't work in severe weather.  In that case, we may have to wait for the weather to clear, which is usually no more than a day or two at the most.  Sometimes that just means we will come out that day a little later than usual.  We will always strive to keep you satisfied despite the weather, but sometimes the weather doesn't always cooperate.  You will not be billed for service that you do not receive; however, we will catch up as soon as possible when there is a delay due to the weather.

What about snow and ice?

The Poop Nanny operates in Houston, where there is generally little to no threat of snow or ice.  We won't send our technicians out in severe weather, but there may be a delay of a day or two if there is snow or ice accumulation.  Again, we will strive to keep you satisfied as long as the weather cooperates with us, and we will catch up as soon as possible when there is a weather related delay.

I don't understand the big deal about dog poop. I thought it was a good fertilizer for my lawn and plants.

Unlike cow manure and other grazing animals, dog waste is protein based, so it isn't a good fertilizer for your lawn.  in fact, for that reason, it is harmful to your grass.  A more pressing concern should be the many hazardous pathogens that can be transmitted to humans from dog waste, and the potential harm dog waste poses to the ecosystem and our water supply.  For more detailed information, please visit our Links page.

So you can send me a bill for service?  Will I get an invoice?  When is payment due?

For the very first time we service your yard, payment is due at the time of service.  This will include the initial fee plus the regular fee for the service plan you have chosen.  Then we will come out to clean your yard and send you an invoice on the first of the month for the services you have received.  Payment of your monthly invoice is due ten (10) days after receipt.  If payment is not received by the due date, your service may be interrupted.  Additionally, your invoice(s) may be turned over to a collection agency for non-payment and may also include late fees.  We want you to be satisfied with our service, so if there is ever a problem making a payment, please let us know.  On the other hand, you can get a 5% discount for pre-paying your invoice each month.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Currently we will accept cash or check.  Soon we will set up a PayPal link on our website for our customers who prefer to use a credit card or debit card to pay for services.  We will charge $35.00 for each check that is returned to cover the bank's fee associated with a returned check.

Do you work on the holidays, too?  What about weekends?

We will work throughout the week to meet our customer's needs, but will only work on Sundays when absolutely necessary.

We will observe the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Independence Day/4th of July
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Since there will be waste accumulation despite the holiday schedule, we will do our best to come out just before the holiday and/or just after, depending on the service you have chosen.  We want to keep your yard as free of pet waste as possible.

Can I schedule a certain day of the week to have my yard cleaned?

We will do our best to accommodate customer requests, however, we must state that getting a certain day may not always be possible.  We will certainly try, so please don't hesitate to ask.

Do I have to sign any contracts?  How do I cancel service?  How much notice do you need?

There are no contracts to sign.  You can elect to cancel service if you wish to do so.  All we really ask in fairness to our schedule is 24-48 hours notice if at all possible.  Without such notice, service will continue and you will be billed for the service received.

This sounds great!  How do I sign up?

You can give us a call or send us an e-mail.  Please send us your first and last name, your complete address, phone number, and the best time of day to call.  You can view our contact information here.  Thanks for checking out our website.  We look forward to working for you very soon!
